The Universal Library
This excellent article talks about the vision for a universal library that will house all of the books, movies and songs ever created. While the article is a little old, it's still relevant. I love the vision and with Google's settlement of it's lawsuit with the publishing industry, it looks like it may become a reality sooner than expected. One interesting fact that is mentioned in the article is about the fact that there are 25 million orphaned books (where copyright ownership is uncertain or unknown) out of the total 32 million books estimated to be in print. Kudos to Google Books for successfully opening this can of worms!
